This exciting new position will provide advice, leadership and expertise to Managers and Supervisors on key HR programs including: Employee Relations, Performance Management, employment law, best practice and recruitment.
As a member of the Mount Milligan HR team, the SNR Advisor: Human Resources will participate in all areas of HR at the operation to ensure Human Resources practices and objectives are applied to maintain an employee-oriented, high performance culture that emphasizes empowerment, quality, productivity and standards, goal attainment, and the recruitment and ongoing development of a superior workforce. This position will cover for the Superintendent, Human Resources while on rotation out.
The Key focus areas of this position are as follows;
Operations
- Assist in the overall management and coordination of the Human Resources functions for the Mt Milligan operations through ensuring that policies and procedures are implemented and adhered to in compliance with current legislation and aligned with TCM corporate standards, policies and procedures.
- Administer the maintenance of the organizational structure ensuring that all approved structural changes and labour movements are accurately updated in a timely manner.
- Provide guidance, coaching and support to Supervisors and Managers in dealing with employee relations issues.
- Assist in the development and delivery of learning and development initiatives to meet the needs of the workforce through visible and cost effective initiatives.
- Develop and monitor strategies and opportunities to improve attraction, retention and engagement of employees which result in improved productivity through reduced turnover of employees. Additional Focus on attraction & retention of First Nations.
- Help with the coordination and delivery of the reward and recognition program to promote a high performance culture by appropriately rewarding and recognising employees for length of service and employees who proactively promote a safe, healthy and productive workplace through exceptional performance and commitment.
- Assist in the coordination of the remuneration and reward policies for the Mt Milligan Operations, maintaining reviews within the guidelines provided by TCM and ensuring that reportable timeframes are met.
Financial
- Assist in managing cost for the annual budget for the HR Department.
Leadership
- Ensure that all supervision on site are skilled and competent in effectively managing their workforce through providing the management team with the necessary skills, advice and strategies to promote a culture of effective individual performance review.
- Build strategic working alliances to facilitate the accomplishment of goals through establishing productive and constructive interpersonal relationships.
- Active participation in maintaining local community events and meetings to maintain a positive relation within the communities surrounding the operational areas of the mine.
- Active participation in Behavioural based Safety and Risk assessments at Mt Milligan
- Drive a culture on site that is one of a “Pro Employee” approach to the way we interact and involve our workforce
- As required, act as the designated Superintendent: Human Resources.
People
- Provide support and advice to Supervision to deliver effective and consistent performance management processes to educate personnel to undertake their activities and actions in a way that develops a workplace culture of safety, environmental awareness, pride and job satisfaction.
- Oversee the implementation of appropriate internal and external training to improve individual development and capability and enhance employee engagement, productivity and job satisfaction.
- Assist with the administration and training with respects to talent management and leadership development. Assist with leadership capability through coaching, mentoring and developing employees.
Risk Analysis and Management
- Provide guidance, coaching and support to the workforce in dealing with employee relations issues by ensuring that timely and proactive advice and support is made available in order to minimise the company’s risk exposure to Industrial Relations action.
- Promote the reduction of incidents on site by focusing on behaviours, actions and attitudes to ensure that a culture is developed whereby the workforce believes that all injuries and incidents can be prevented.
Education
- • University degree in an HR related field. Considerable related experience combined with education may be considered as an equivalent. is required

Skills
- Excellent communication skills (written and verbal)
- Strong knowledge of Microsoft office applications plus familiarity with HRIS systems
