Human Resources Advisor Hiring in Canada

POSITION SPECIFICATION:
The Human Resources Advisor is an integral part of New Gold’s Corporate HR function. Contributions include recruitment, employee relations, performance management, training, orientation, human resources related projects and salary/benefit administration. The position will report to the Director, Human Resources.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Advisory:
  • Advise managers and employees on all HR programs, employment legislation and practices as it impacts employees at the manager level and below;
  • Serve as a link between management and employees by handling questions and providing information.Support managers in resolving employment issues;
  • Determine and deliver immigration and VISA requirements for employees;
  • Assist in Human Resources policy development;
  • Monitor best practices and research new trends and innovations in Human Resources;
  • Provide input to the organization of team building activities and annual events;
  • Work collaboratively with sites on common initiatives; and
  • Other duties as assigned.
Recruitment & Selection:
  • Participate and support the attraction, retention and development of high quality employees, including job analysis, advertising, conducting interviews, liaising with recruiters, performing reference checks and employment contract negotiations;
  • Deliver an effective onboarding program for new employees, ensuring due process is followed, with an eye for constant evolution and improvement; and
  • Prepare employment offer letters and contract amendments.
Performance Management & Evaluation:
  • Work with managers to establish performance goals & performance feedback and coaching to resolve any performance related issues; and
  • Facilitate accurate and timely performance appraisal review process.
Training & Development:
  • Support Talent management and High Potential development initiatives as required; and
  • Research and recommend employee training programs based on development needs as identified.
Compensation & Benefits:
  • Contribute to annual compensation review process including participation in peer review meetings, development of preliminary recommendations and executive approvals.Generate communication including annual compensation adjustment letters for corporate;
  • Administer equity grants and payments, including the compilation and distribution of communication to employees;
  • Administer compensation policies, advise on competitive conditions and internal compensation anomalies and prepare compensation review information to conduct reviews effectively and efficiently; and
  • Provide advice/feedback to individual inquiries/concerns.
